The Boise Cutters will be holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 9th from 7:00 p.m. – 10:0 p.m. at the Owyhee Plaza Hotel’s Den.

This month’s gathering will include a demo reel from Yellow Box Studio, and an explanation of how they use 3D imaging and compositing in their work and where they think the technology is going.

The group described itself as:

We are producers, writers, motion & graphic artists, broadcast and film professionals, advertisers, and students of the modern cool. What binds us all is our appreciation for Final Cut Pro’s ability to provide the tools that creativity demands.

The Idaho Advertising Federation is currently accepting nominations for the AAF Silver Medal Award.  The Silver Medal Award is presented “to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to advertising by furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and responsibilities in areas of social concern.”

You’ve heard about Ignite Boise.  You may have even been to one of the previous events, or seen videos of the past presentations.  Now’s your chance to submit your idea for the next event.

Speaker submissions are being accepted now through March 19th for Ignite Boise | 04.  Don’t worry if your idea isn’t fully fleshed-out at this point — all you need is a topic and a paragraph to describe it.  If your submission is selected, then you can sweat the details.

The Idaho AIGA Chapter is presenting Learnch: Designing Sustainable Packaging.  This event, from 11:30 – 1:00 on Tuesday, February 9th, featuring guest speaker John Bernardo, will “focus on the triple bottom line benefits of sustainable operations, specifically sustainable packaging.”

You’ve likely heard about it.  I’ve written about it.  And now, there’s a screening coming to Boise.

ART & COPY will be showing on Thursday, March 18th at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise.  The film is presented locally by Drake Cooper, and proceeds from the screening will benefit the non-profit organization TrICA (Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts).

For those not yet familiar with the film:

ART & COPY is a powerful new film about advertising and inspiration. Directed by Doug Pray, it reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time — people who’ve profoundly impacted our culture, yet are virtually unknown outside their industry.

Tickets can be purchased online, at the Egyptian Theatre’s box office, or at the door the day of the show.

The Magic Valley Advertising Federation is presenting a behind-the-scenes look at Budweiser’s advertising in the Super Bowl, with Mitch and Linda Watkins.  From the event’s description:

On Thursday, February 11^th, the Magic Valley Advertising Federation presents Mitch and Linda Watkins with a behind the scenes look at Budweiser’s advertising in the Super Bowl. Budweiser’s Super Bowl spots consistently rank in the top 10 commercials for the Super Bowl.

For January, the Boise Advertising Federation is mixing up their programs a bit, and featuring an evening social event.  All the details you need to know at this point are below:

Capital City Communicators, a Treasure Valley organization for professional communicators, has announced a Call for Entries for the inaugural IMPACT Awards.

The IMPACT Awards, which stands for Idaho Marketing, PR, and Communication Talent, “offer Idaho communicators a unique opportunity to showcase their work, receive expert feedback and gain peer and industry recognition,” said Jeff Reynolds, CCC president and owner of Rizen Creative.

From the CCC website:

We’re looking for the best and the brightest of 2009 – the marketing or communications project that made heads turn and people take notice. It’s time to show off your great work from the past year and earn recognition among your peers.

Entries will be accepted from Dec. 14, 2009 to Feb. 4, 2010. Award winners will be recognized at the IMPACT Award Recognition event in mid March 2010.

Early entries are due by January 28th, and late entries will be accepted (for an additional fee of course) through February 4th.
