The Idaho Ad Agencies blog recently received an Excellence award at Capital City Communicator’s inaugural IMPACT Awards.  It was one of 31 winners in 15 categories at the event, which also included awards to our friends at Rizen Creative, Red Sky Public Relations, FusionSet, Murphy Media Services, SOVRN Creative and many more.

So with that little bit of bragging out of the way, we offer a hearty congratulations to all of this year’s winners.

Capital City Communicators, a Treasure Valley organization for professional communicators, has announced a Call for Entries for the inaugural IMPACT Awards.

The IMPACT Awards, which stands for Idaho Marketing, PR, and Communication Talent, “offer Idaho communicators a unique opportunity to showcase their work, receive expert feedback and gain peer and industry recognition,” said Jeff Reynolds, CCC president and owner of Rizen Creative.

From the CCC website:

We’re looking for the best and the brightest of 2009 – the marketing or communications project that made heads turn and people take notice. It’s time to show off your great work from the past year and earn recognition among your peers.

Entries will be accepted from Dec. 14, 2009 to Feb. 4, 2010. Award winners will be recognized at the IMPACT Award Recognition event in mid March 2010.

Early entries are due by January 28th, and late entries will be accepted (for an additional fee of course) through February 4th.

Jason Hamilton has left Fuel3, and is now with Rizen Creative.  While their blog post was not clear as to what Jason’s role is within the agency, I’m sure that he’ll be a great addition to their team.

WARNING: Stream of consciousness writing to follow.  Like that’s anything new, but consider yourself warned…

How many times have you seen this happen:  Two (or more) people are competing for the same job.  On paper, both are equally qualified.  In person, however, one comes off as timid – afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing, while the other maintains a certain confidence.  Who gets the job?

Same goes for the agency environment.  An agency who is afraid to take some sort of action for fear that they might make a mistake is just as timid as the job candidate above.  And it shows.  A recent tweet from rizen creative sums it up nicely:

While the concept is not new, it’s worth repeating from time to time:  If you’re playing not to lose, you’ll lose more often than you win.  Letting fear stand in your way of doing something is no excuse for doing nothing.

The Boise Centre on the Grove has a new identity as Boise Centre, courtesy of Rizen Creative.

George Parker is still gleefully ranting away on Adscam. (Personal aside, his latest book, The Ubiquitous Persuaders, in next in line on my reading list. More on that at a later date).

An Account Executive / Brand Manager / fill in your version of the job title here. This person should have experience on the client or agency side — preferably both. Should be able to see the big picture as well as manage the small details.

A Part Time Design Assistant. This is very much an entry level position, but would be a good opportunity to get your foot in the door.
