Ignite Boise 02

Stop what you’re doing and put this on your calendar.

Seriously, stop.

Now open your favorite calendar program, application, site, utility, datebook or sticky-note and write this down:

Ignite Boise 02: July 16th, 2009.

For those who may have missed the inaugural event, Ignite Boise 01 was a fantastic success.  And, if you’re not familiar with Ignite Boise, here’s a little more about the event:

WHAT IT IS:
Ignite Boise is a 3 hour-ish idea feeding frenzy that brings together artists, geeks, entrepreneurs, academics, government officials, and others to share their ideas in fast-paced, bite-sized presentations. It’s a great opportunity to meet smart, interesting people (if we do say so ourselves) and maybe even learn something.

THE GOAL:
Bringing together embers of big ideas to spark a blaze of creativity in Boise’s business and creative community –leaving attendees more educated and just as importantly, more inspired.

HOW IT WORKS:
Presenters each get five minutes and 20 slides (automatically rotating every 15 seconds) to talk on a topic of their choice. Everyone is invited to participate, though due to the limitations of space and time, only a handful will be selected to present at each event.

COST:
Zero. Zip. Nada. Ignite Boise is brought to you by a group of volunteers and sponsors.

If you’re interested in speaking at Ignite Boise 02, proposal submissions are now being accepted.  Submissions are due by June 5th at 5:00pm.

  1. I’ll attend if you’re presenting. If you’re not presenting, I not only won’t attend, I’ll instead spend the night ridiculing orphans. So, if you don’t present, then you’ll be knowingly causing the ridicule of orphans. Do the right thing.

  2. Thanks for the post, Brian. Just want to remind would-be submitters that Ignite Boise is about sharing, not about promoting. If you’re presentation idea includes anything like “How to lose 90 pounds in 15 days” or “Build wealth through insurance,” it probably doesn’t have much of a chance of being selected.

That said, I hope everyone with a glimmer of an idea, submits. We’d love more participation from the ad/marketing/design community.

  3. Any idea where we can find a list of the topics covered at the first event? I searched the site but didn’t see one.

  4. Thanks, unfortunately I don’t have time to watch all the videos to see what the topics were. A written list would be ideal.
