AIGA Event: Learnch – Designing Sustainable Packaging

AIGA Idaho Learnch: Designing Sustainable PackagingSorry for the short notice on this one.

The Idaho AIGA Chapter is presenting Learnch: Designing Sustainable Packaging.  This event, from 11:30 – 1:00 on Tuesday, February 9th, featuring guest speaker John Bernardo, will “focus on the triple bottom line benefits of sustainable operations, specifically sustainable packaging.”

More from the AIGA Idaho site:

AIGA Idaho welcomes John Bernardo as he discusses designing to meet the criteria for sustainable packaging as established by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition. AIGA members have a tangible opportunity to cultivate and strengthen client relations by promoting sustainable operations. Bernardo’s presentation will focus on the triple bottom line benefits of sustainable operations, specifically sustainable packaging.

Triple Bottom Line benefits: People, Profit, and Planet
If you operate with your employees, client and community in mind, consider the impact of your operations on the environment, and work towards the highest return on investment for your clients, stakeholders and investors, you will succeed and sustain your business into the future.

The event is at Ha’ Penny Bridge in BoDo.

Special Screening: ART & COPY

You’ve likely heard about it.  I’ve written about it.  And now, there’s a screening coming to Boise.

ART & COPY will be showing on Thursday, March 18th at the Egyptian Theatre in downtown Boise.  The film is presented locally by Drake Cooper, and proceeds from the screening will benefit the non-profit organization TrICA (Treasure Valley Institute for Children’s Arts).

For those not yet familiar with the film:

ART & COPY is a powerful new film about advertising and inspiration. Directed by Doug Pray, it reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time — people who’ve profoundly impacted our culture, yet are virtually unknown outside their industry.

Tickets can be purchased online, at the Egyptian Theatre’s box office, or at the door the day of the show.

Call for Hosts: 2010 Rockie Awards

I received this recently from the folks responsible for putting together the 2010 Rockie Awards:

Idaho Ad Peeps,

In the year 2010, a noble few are called upon to lead worthy advertising mortals to the Valhallas of Valhallas—an Idaho Advertising Federation Rockie Award.

So here’s the deal. Rather than having a few hired guns to host the IAF Rockie Awards, we’re turning to the community to take part in honoring itself. That’s kind of narcissistic and yet, cool.

We need hosts to announce the winners in the various categories. We’re looking for 30 people to be put into pairs of two. Each twosome will hand out the awards for 1 of the 15 different categories.

You can volunteer as a team or the Rockies crew can pair you up with another solo award giver-outer.

Your twosome can write your own witty repartee or you will be provided a script for your introduction with ample room for witty ad libs. The Rockies crew will need to approve submitted scripts for timing and content.

Please feel free to pass this on to others in your shops that you think may be interested as well. It’s open to anyone brave enough to take the stage and their 10-15 minutes of fame.

If you’re interested in being involved in the show and willing to pair up with someone to host a category or have further questions before you’d like to commit please E-mail
