The 2013 Rockie Awards are coming up on Saturday, April 20th. This year’s theme – Venetian Masquerade Ball – will accompany a change in both format and venue.
The show will be held at the Linen Building at 14th and Grove in downtown Boise. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., announcements start at 8:00, and the gallery will be open from 7:30 – midnight. The show will also include performances from DJ Dangerous Dave, Anti-Magic and the Red Light Variety Show. Tickets and more information are available through the Boise Advertising Federation. The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent of people in an unprecedented way, unleashing unlimited creative opportunities.
But does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity?
This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world’s most influential creators of the digital era.
The screening is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Linen Building in downtown Boise. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Attendees are encouraged to bring a canned food item to be donated to the Idaho Foodbank.
Debbie Millman is President of the Design Division of Sterling Brands, and President of AIGA, the professional association for design. She has worked in the design business for over 25 years, including nearly 15 years at Sterling Brands.

Based in Minneapolis, with additional offices in Los Angeles and New York, space150 is a digital agency that was founded in 2000. As President, Marcus Fischer leads the business side of the agency, and has more than a decade’s worth of experience in account planning.
Prior to joining space150, Fischer was Group Planning Director at Carmichael Lynch, and was also a founding partner and Account Planning Director at One And All in Minneapolis.
The luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, February 3rd, from 11:30 – 1:00 at the Linen Building, 1402 Grove St. in downtown Boise. Cost is $18 for BAF members, or $25 for non-members.
