The Rockies, 2020 edition

May 16, 2020.

That was the date for The Rockies, and it was set many months in advance.

But then, as Ryan Reynolds so eloquently put it recently…

Nevertheless, the Boise Advertising Federation quickly shifted, and held the show entirely online, with attendees watching and chatting via YouTube.

All in all it was a tremendous success, and everyone involved in making it happen deserves a ton of credit.

My challenge to you

As you likely know by now, The Rockies have gone virtual this year. And part of that event will include 3D elements. You can find all the details about The Rockies and how to order your 3D glasses here.

While you’re there, you can make a donation to the Idaho Food Bank through the event page, and the Boise Advertising Federation has committed to matching donations, up to $500.

Now, here’s my challenge:

When I ordered my glasses, I made a $50 donation. I challenge you — yes you — to do the same.

Now, if you’re not in a position to do so, I understand. The last thing I want to do is put anyone in a difficult spot. But for those who are able to, it’s time to give a little back one of the many organizations that do so much to help those throughout the state of Idaho.

If you’d prefer to give to another organization on your own, great! There are hundreds of deserving non-profits that will take any help they can get — you can find 611 alone on Idaho Gives.

As an aside, perhaps one of our friends from the BAF can stop by and leave a comment with an update on how donations are coming along.

I applaud the Boise Ad Fed for putting this together, and give them tons of credit for making the best out of the tough spot they’ve been put in this year. Looking forward to seeing the show come together on the 16th, and recognizing the best of a lot of great work.

The Rockies – an update

Much has been happening behind the scenes, and the Boise Advertising Federation sent out this update earlier today to the public at large about The Rockies.

2020 ROCKIES AWARD SHOW UPDATE
An Idaho Advertising Federation event, brought to you by The Boise Advertising Federation.

Thanks for being patient with us as we have carefully deliberated to determine the fate of the 2020 Rockies Award show due to COVID 19. The Rockies as an in-person event will not happen this year due to the sensitivity of social distancing while we work through this. It was a hard decision, but we will make it up to you with a big party the next time we get together.

The good news: Due to the size of our usual gathering and sensitivity in these times of COVID-19, we will instead present the Rockies Award Show as a livestream event. We still want to celebrate the creative spirit of our community by hosting a special livestream on May 16th. You guys worked too hard this past year for us to not do anything to acknowledge what you do best!

Stay tuned for details to watch the show on May 16th! See the winners, see the fun videos, have some drinks… all from the comfort of your living rooms and yoga pants. It’ll be free to watch and we also encourage you join us in donating to the Idaho Food Bank during the show. Watch it by yourself or in your groups no larger than 10, six feet apart. It will still be an amazing time.
