PRSA Idaho Event: Pitching in the New Media Landscape

PRSA Idaho is hosting Batter Up: Pitching in the New Media Landscape, featuring nationally-recognized media pitching coach Michael Smart on Thursday, September 20th.

This half-day event will cover topics such as:

  •  How to take advantage of the upheaval in the media industry.
  • The anatomy of perfect phone and email pitches.
  • Foolproof ways to determine the correct journalists and bloggers to approach.
  • What to say or write to grab attention every time.
  • How pitching bloggers is similar to and different from pitching to other media.
  • A specific pattern for knowing exactly when to follow up with your media contacts, and when not to.
  • What most annoys journalist and bloggers, and how to avoid it!

This event will be held in the Jordan (A) Ballroom in the Student Union Building at Boise State University. It begins with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and sessions start promptly at 9:00.

Costs are:

  • $45 for PRSA members who register online
  • $60 for nonmembers and at the door
  • $35 for students with a valid student ID

PRSA Event: Annual Meeting & Social

The Idaho chapter of the Public Relations Society of America is holding their annual meeting and social event this Thursday, December 1st, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Cafe Ole in downtown Boise.

From the event’s description:

Join us to meet and greet the Idaho chapter of Public Relations Society of America’s new officers and network (& socialize 🙂 Dec. 1 at Café Ole in Downtown Boise in the 8th Street Market Place from 5 – 7 p.m.

Munch on a taco from the Taco Bar, sip a mango margarita and power network with your communication colleagues. The chapter’s annual meeting will be conducted with elections of our new officers for 2012.

Cost is $15 for members online and $20 for guests, or $20 (cash or check) for all at the door. Price includes Taco Bar and one drink.

PRSA Idaho Event: Social Media Marketing and Integrated Campaign Planning

Among other things, the transition from summer to fall means that it’s once again time for the local professional organizations to ramp up their events and activities.

Case in point:

PRSA Idaho is holding their first fall meeting on Tuesday, October 6th from 11:45 – 1:15: Social Media Marketing and Integrated Campaign Planning.

During this discussion-based program, we will address varying degrees of roles for social media in an integrated PR/communications campaign. Topics to be explored include:

  • Social media strategy—How to keep it consistent with the umbrella strategy
  • How to use social media to achieve campaign goals
  • Traditional vs. 2.0—when is one methodology more effective than the other?
  • When is too much too much?
  • Social media measurement—Tools and tips

Also included will be a review of the “What’s the Real Cost” campaign from Regence, the “Stay on Trails” campaign from Idaho Forest Service, BLM and Idaho Parks & Recreation, and the “Cruising the Loop” family trip from Idaho Department of Tourism.
