AIGA Event: Student Portfolio Review

AIGA Idaho is putting on their first annual Student Portfolio Review.  This event, scheduled for Saturday, March 12th, will allow students to meet one-on-one with a number of professionals, and will give students an opportunity to receive immediate feedback on their work prior to building their final portfolios for graduate shows.

Students working toward any graphic design or illustration majors are invited to participate, and the event is open to students from all Idaho colleges and universities.

This event is taking place at The Lookout in the BSU Student Union Building, 1910 University Drive, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

AIGA/BAF Event: Three Courses + Cake w/ Debbie Millman, President, AIGA and the Design Group at Sterling Brands

AIGA Idaho and the Boise Advertising Federation are presenting Three Courses + Cake with Debbie Millman on Thursday, March 10th from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Debbie Millman is President of the Design Division of Sterling Brands, and President of AIGA, the professional association for design.  She has worked in the design business for over 25 years, including nearly 15 years at Sterling Brands.

Additionally, Millman is the author of three books:

She also has a fourth book, due out in October, titled Brand Thinking and Other Noble Pursuits.

This event is being held at the Linen Building in downtown Boise.  Space is limited and RSVPs are strongly recommended.  Cost is $18 for AIGA and BAF members and $25 for non-members.

AIGA Event: LEMONADE Film Screening

AIGA Idaho will be screening LEMONADE in Boise on Wednesday, November 10th at the WaterCooler in downtown Boise.  A social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the screening starting at 7:00 p.m.

The screening is free to those who would like to attend, but a suggested $5 donation is recommended.  Proceeds from the film screening will be given to the filmmakers, to help with with their latest project LEMONADE: Detroit.

For those long-time readers, you may remember that we’ve mentioned LEMONADE in the past, and you may have even had a chance to watch part or all of it online.  Regardless, it’s a film that is worth seeing again, and a great way to support the efforts of Erik Proulx and company.

The Savvy Designer’s Guide to Success

AIGA Idaho’s next event is coming up on Thursday, April 15th.  This event is titled The Savvy Designer’s Guide to Success and presented by Jeff Fisher.  From the event’s listing on the AIGA Idaho site:

Cost is $15 for AIGA members, $25 for non-members, and $10 for students.

AIGA Event – Drink for Design

AIGA Idaho is once again holding a Drink for Design event.  This one is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd (sorry for the short notice).

All designers need to be hydrated to keep up with all that creative genius out there, whatever your choice of liquid may be, i.e, vitamin induced pump you up water, cola, beer, mixed drinks…Come and enjoy liquid refreshment together and refuel your creative juices*

The event is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. and will likely go until everyone leaves or they close the bar, whichever comes first.
